Our good friend Nuthatch tagged us to post eight random facts about each other. Enjoy!
Ernie's eight facts about Matt:
1. Matt has two lively daughters, Megan (age 6) and Grace (age 3).
2. He really has no idea how fast they will grow.
3. He worked on the sports desk of the Milwaukee Sentinel during college. He was a score-taker and agate editor, a job so difficult and critical that if he called in sick, the sports department would have missed deadline by an hour.
4. Matt was not pleased when his alma mater, Marquette University, tried to change its sports nickname to "Gold."
5. He owns two Saturns.
6. He knows what a JUG is, but I don't know if it is from personal experience.
7. He subscribes to Mother Jones magazine.
8. He grew up in Nebraska, but I've never heard him say the word "Cornhusker."
--E.M.
Matt's eight facts about Ernie: 1. He is very proud of his kids, Melissa and Mike. 2. He is overly modest about his skills as a photographer. 3. He has a lazy cat named Java. 4. He took photos at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles for the Associated Press. 5. He is an avid stargazer and subscribes to our sister publication, Astronomy. 6. He sometimes bikes to work. 7. When he does, he wears really cool biker shirts. 8. He collects magnets, much to his wife’s disdain. --M.M.
Jessica's 8 astonishing facts about Chuck: 1. Chuck is the proud owner of Dunkin, the second-cutest dog on the planet. (Sorry, Chuck...Dunkin's going to have to battle my dog, Gia, for the number one position!) 2. He has an appreciation for music of all kinds -- I've heard everything from toe-tapping Cuban rhythms, to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" pouring out of his office door. And he's also got a serious thing for Steely Dan. 3. He appreciates a well made Mojito. 4. His desk is covered with tiny eraser shavings. Yes, editors still use pencils. 5. He loves sports of all kinds, and especially enjoys managing his daughter's soccer team. 7. He really loves to make spreadsheets, charts and graphs, especially when they involve baseball statistics. 8. He speaks German. Ja? --J.E.
Eight facts about Jessica from Chuck, who apologizes to Nuthatch for being slow and whose dog Dunkin is too cuter than Gia: 1. Jessica is a poet. In fact, Wisconsin People & Ideas magazine named her poem "Progress" a runner-up in its 2007 statewide poetry contest. This honor came with an invitation to read the poem publicly in Madison in early April. 2. Jessica, a graduate of Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, is an accomplished photographer with a good eye. If you read our April 2007 issue carefully, you would have noticed that she took the cool low-angle shot of ICF intern Tally Love scanning for Whoopers up on top of a pickup (page 42). 3. Jessica is also an artist, as you can tell from this humorous rendering of a self-absorbed cardinal. 4. Jessica's also a good writer. (You did read that story about that cardinal, didn't you?) 5. And all those maps in "Hotspots Near You"? She does all the work to make them. 6. She and her husband Dave are geo-cachers. (That is, they tromp hither and yon across the countryside in search of secret locations revealed only by handheld GPS devices.) 7. Jessica shares an interest with me in the music of one Andrew Bird. 8. And finally, here's what you need to know about Jessica's dog: Gia has the most soulful, expressive canine face I've ever seen. Want proof? Just look at the photo below (Jess took it); it's her computer desktop. It's enough to make you late for meetings. -- C.H.
Very entertaining!

I thought Matt's #7 about Ernie said "biker SHORTS." Now that would have said something about Matt!
I can verify Chuck appreciates well-made mojitoes, and will drink even those prepared indifferently.
